Addy Awofisayo,new head of music,sub-Saharan Africa,at YouTube and YouTube Music

She will be in charge of the YouTube Music business and partnership teams in sub-Saharan Africa and will report to the head of music for YouTube Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Originally from Nigeria, she had joined YouTube in 2018 as head of content partnerships for Africa before being promoted in March 2020 to head of content partnerships for sub-Saharan Africa.
Addy Awofisayo said, “Music is a powerful medium of expression and a tool that exports African cultures to the world stage. I am excited about my new role and the opportunities YouTube offers to creators and artists. I look forward to working with the YouTube Music team and contributing to the growth of the music community in sub-Saharan Africa.”

In her previous position as YouTube Content Partnerships Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, Addy Awofisayo was responsible for building and managing strategic relationships with creators, broadcasters, publishers and artists in the market. Over the past two years, she has played a central role in the growth of YouTube and YouTube Music in Africa. She also played a key role in the launch of YouTube Music in Nigeria around the first quarter of 2020. Addy Awofisayo has also spearheaded initiatives to support the growth of creators in Africa, such as Creator360 Africa, NextUp SSA and the Celebration of Creators live stream.

Prior to joining Youtube, Addy Awofisayo worked for CBS, as head of business development, content partnerships and acquisitions.
With a Master’s degree from Harvard University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, Addy Awofisayo began her career in the entertainment industry at Discovery, where she worked in content development and partnerships. After graduating from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Business, Awofisayo held positions at PwC, Goldman Sachs and Microsoft. She then joined Microsoft where, between 2007 and 2011, she held the positions of Finance Leadership Rotation Program and Business Finance Manager. She then worked for the Clinton Foundation and Discovery Inc, before joining CBS.
