Anastacia Tshesane elected Chair of PwC Africa Governance Board

PwC Africa announced on July 25 the election of Anastacia Tshesane as the new chair of the firm’s Africa Governance Council. Anastacia Tshesane is the first female partner to be elected by her peers on the Governance Council for Africa to hold this prestigious position. Her appointment is effective July 1, 2022.

In addition to her new role, Anastacia Tshesane will continue to provide insurance expertise to her portfolio of listed clients.

The Governance Council has 12 members elected, for a 4-year term, by the partners of each of the three market areas that make up PwC Africa. The Chair of the Governance Council is elected by its members. The Governance Council has a number of committees that act in accordance with their delegated authority. The committees are accountable to the Governance Council and report to the members at each council meeting.

PwC Africa has offices in 34 countries across Africa, including 21 offices in South Africa, with close to 400 partners and over 9,000 staff in these 34 countries.
With nearly 20 years of experience at PwC, Anastacia Tshesane has held a number of leadership positions focused on people, transformation, diversity and inclusion, and other aspects of PwC’s strategic responsibilities that have prepared her well for the role of chair of PwC Africa’s governance board. “My previous roles have taught me to look at real diversity from a multi-disciplinary perspective and it is clear to me that diversity of backgrounds, perspectives and considerations enhances the strength and impact of our Governance Board,” she said.

Specialized in banking and capital markets

A partner at PwC South Africa since 2012, Anastacia Tshesane specializes in banking and capital markets, insurance and consumer industrial products and services. She has worked for several key international clients and has audited large South African companies and multinationals, which has allowed her to develop her network.
For several years, Anastacia Tshesane was also “People Partner” and Deputy Group Leader of PwC’s Banking and Capital Markets division. She was also a member of the South Market Area Leadership Team (SMALT), responsible for transformation, diversity and inclusion in Southern Africa. In this role, she collaborated globally with a team of partners to align strategies as a community of solvers.
