Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh appointed Microsoft’s Strategic Partnership Lead for Africa

Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh, a native of Ghana, has been appointed head of strategic partnerships for Africa in Microsoft’s newly created Africa Transformation Office (ATO).

Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh will be responsible for strategic partnerships with governments, financial institutions, telecom operators, multinationals and international organisations on the African continent. This is to fuel Africa’s transformation, increase growth and accelerate ATO’s mission on the continent.

Microsoft’s creation of the ATO is a reinforcement of its investment in enabling digital transformation in Africa. The ATO will focus on facilitating growth and driving investment in four key development areas: digital infrastructure, skills development, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups.

Prior to her appointment, Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh was IBM’s Regional Director for North, East and West Africa, responsible for IBM’s operations in over 40 countries in Africa, including Morocco, Nigeria, Kenya, Senegal, Uganda, Ghana and Tunisia. She became the first woman and the first African to be appointed as IBM’s Regional Director for Africa. She led the organization’s business and strategy, enabling clients to grow and transform, and has been a key player in advancing IBM’s Hybrid Cloud and AI momentum across 35 countries in Africa.

Before that, Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh was the Chief of Staff to the Senior Vice President of Global Markets and Sales at IBM’s New York headquarters. She was appointed General Manager of IBM Ghana in 2015, becoming IBM’s first female General Manager in Africa. As General Manager of IBM Ghana, she oversaw IBM’s activities in key sectors: finance, oil, gas, telecommunications, etc., to deploy IBM’s advanced technologies in these sectors.

She joined IBM in 2011 as Territory Marketing Manager for West Africa before moving to Kenya as Strategy Leader for IBM’s Central, East and West Africa operations.

An experienced marketer, Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh’s previous roles include Marketing Manager (London and Northern Europe) for GL Trade, a French software company and Marketing Manager in London for ABN AMRO and UBS Investment Bank.

On her return to Ghana, she was Head of Prestige Banking at UBA and Group Head, Consumer Banking at Guaranty Trust Bank. She holds a BA in Marketing and French from London Metropolitan University and has completed a Leadership Development Programme at Harvard Business School.

Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh has received numerous awards including the Global Impact Leadership Award from the US African Women Forum and the prestigious African Achievers Awards for Excellence in Business.

Since august 2021, Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh is a board member of the Central Bank of Ghana. She continues to be recognized as a strong advocate of ‘women supporting women’ among her peers and is an avid mentor for women in the corporate sector. She is also a philanthropist at heart, supporting the development of the lesser privileged in rural Ghana.
