DRC: Rodolphe Kembukuswa and Eldon Khuty appointed to Africa Global Logistics (AGL)

Rodolphe Kembukuswa, a Congolese national, has been appointed Country Manager of Africa Global Logistics (formerly Bolloré Africa Logistics) in the Democratic Republic of Congo, based in Kinshasa, while Eldon Khuty, also a Congolese national, is the new General Manager of Africa Global Logistics in the province of Katanga, based in Lubumbashi. He replaces Rodolphe Kembukuswa.

Africa Global Logistics is the new subsidiary of the Italian-Swiss group Mediterranean Shipping Company (better known by its acronym MSC), after it acquired the assets of Bolloré Africa Logistics.  Active in the DRC for more than 50 years, AGL, which has 800 employees in the country, offers multimodal logistics solutions to economic operators in the Congo and to its international customers, covering maritime services, logistics for industrial projects, land, sea and air transport, corridor management and more. AGL plays an active role in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s major development projects, thanks to major investments in equipment, innovations and the development of its employees’ skills.

Appointed country director of Africa Global Logistics, Rodolphe Kembukuswa, 59, has spent 33 years with the Bolloré Group, which he joined as soon as he finished university. Since 2018, he has been managing director of the Katanga subsidiary. Prior to that, he worked in Antwerp, Kinshasa, Kigali, Dar es Salaam and the eastern DRC.

He holds a Master’s degree in law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, obtained in 1990, and joined the AGL group (formerly Bolloré) in 1989. He returned to Kinshasa in 1990 and worked for the group in various positions, notably in the east of the DRC (Goma); in Kinshasa, Dar Es Salam, Tanzania, as operations director (2000-2006), before becoming managing director of Bolloré in Rwanda (2006-2012, then managing director of Bolloré Africa Logistics in the DRC (2012-2013). From 2015 to 2016, Rodolphe Kembukuswa was appointed Managing Director of Bolloré Logistics Belgium.

Developing AGL’s activities in Katanga

Eldon Khuty

Eldon Khuty has been appointed Managing Director of AGL in Katanga. In his new role, he will be responsible for developing the group’s activities in the Katanga region, a strategic area for minerals essential to global energy transitions, as well as for intra-African trade. To this end, Eldon Khuty will continue Rodolphe Kembukuswa’s progress in strengthening the company’s multimodal solutions, which are essential for customers’ supply chains. He will do so by drawing on AGL’s international network, in particular rail, road, river and lake corridors, as well as the ports of Lobito in Angola, Dar Es Salam in Tanzania, Durban in South Africa and Walvis Bay in Namibia.

Eldon Khuty holds an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from the Frankfurt School of Finance and a Master’s degree in economics. He has over 15 years’ experience in logistics. He joined AGL in 2007 as Shipping Manager, after initial experience in the banking sector. Since then, he has progressively held various positions of responsibility in the DRC and Mozambique, most recently as Managing Director of AGL Tanzania.
