After resigning and being reappointed as Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, Patrick Achi, has presented a new government of 32 members (41 members in the previous one) in which two new personalities have entered, notably Françoise Remarck, President of the Board of Directors of Canal+ Côte d’Ivoire, appointed Minister of Culture and Francophonie, replacing Arlette Badou.
A graduate of the Abidjan Business School (ESCA) and holder of an Executive MBA – HEC Paris, Françoise Remarck has more than 25 years of experience in the distribution and media sectors for international groups, particularly in Africa.
She began her career in 1986 at Ernst & Young in Paris, which she joined as an auditor, before becoming a mission director. In 1992, she returned to Côte d’Ivoire, where she contributed to the creation of Canal Horizons Côte d’Ivoire before managing it. From 1994 to 1996, she was Financial Director, then Deputy General Manager from 1996 to June 1999, before becoming General Manager from June 1999 to February 2003. In 2003, she was appointed President and CEO of Canal+ Côte d’Ivoire. She obtained an Executive MBA from HEC Paris in 2004. In July 2009, she was promoted to Deputy Managing Director of Canal Overseas Africa, while retaining her position as CEO of Canal+ Côte d’Ivoire. In 2010, she was transferred to Paris, within the parent company of Canal+ Africa as Director of Institutional Relations and Communication.
Five years later, in April 2015, Françoise Remarck joined CFAO as VP Director of Communications and Institutional Relations of the Group. She was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Canal+Côte d’Ivoire in June 2018. She is also a member of several boards: Bicici, a subsidiary of BNPParibas, where she chairs the compensation committee; A+ Ivoire and Member of the investment committee of Comoé Capital, an investment fund that supports the development of SMEs in Côte d’Ivoire.
Françoise Le Guennou-Remarck is very committed to young people and women and also supports various initiatives with a strong societal impact on the continent. She is a member of the Women in Business board and president of the mentoring activity within Women in Business Côte d’Ivoire.
She is also a co-founder of Africa Kirawa Fund, a financing vehicle for entrepreneurs in the Cultural and Creative Industries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
