Leading multi-category app Glovo has announced, on September 4, the appointment of Shiro Theuri to Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Theuri will lead Glovo’s global technology teams across 23 countries, accelerating the development of the group’s global tech capabilities
In her new role as Glovo CTO, Theuri is responsible for leading the development of new solutions that optimize the user experience for all of Glovo’s stakeholders across the 23 markets where the platform is available. Her primary objective is to further strengthen Glovo’s global tech and innovation capabilities to build a platform with the best experience for customers, couriers, and partners.
Glovo is a pioneering multi-category app connecting users with businesses, and couriers, offering on-demand services from local restaurants, grocers and supermarkets, and high street retail stores. Glovo’s vision is to give everyone easy access to everything within their city, so that the users can enjoy what they want, when they want, where they want. Founded in 2015 in Barcelona, it operates across 23 countries in Europe, Central Asia and Africa. Since 2022, Glovo is a subsidiary of “Delivery Hero”, a German ready meal delivery company founded in 2011 and operating in 70 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Arab world and South America.

Shiro’s appointment marks a new era in Glovo’s journey as a technology leader in the delivery industry. Using her new position as a catalyst, Theuri will champion promoting a more data-driven culture to influence product development and scalability across markets. Also, she brings her passion for innovation, diversity and mentorship to Glovo’s core.

Since 2022, Shiro Theuri has held the position of Senior Director of Engineering.
Before her move from Nairobi, Kenya to Barcelona, Spain to join Glovo in 2022, Shiro Theuri held multiple senior engineering roles across a range of startups and small businesses in Kenya, including as VP of Engineering of the end-to-end fulfilment platform Sendy, and CTO of the mobile campaign messaging service FrontlineSMS.

She is the technical advisor and co-founder of Tibu Health, an Omnichannel health technology company that delivers health services where people live, work and click. Tibu health adopt the latest, most advanced technologies in health and logistics to provide patients with a convenient and coordinated end-to-end healthcare experience.
Before launching TIBU, Shiro founded Chowders Loft, specialized in Microsoft Dynamic 365.
Shiro Theuri holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Egerton University, and a Master’s degree in Computer Software Engineering from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
