Kendi Ntwiga appointed as the Global Head of Misrepresentation at Meta (Formely Facebook)

Former Managing Director of Microsoft Kenya, and now based in Ireland, she has been appointed in May 2022.

In line with itscommitment to authenticity, Meta does not allow people to misrepresent themselves, use fake accounts, artificially boost the popularity of content or engage in behaviours designed to enable other violations under its Community Standards. The policy is intended to protect the security of user accounts and its services, and create a space where people can trust the people and communities they interact with.

Kendi Ntwiga’s role as the Head of Misrepresentation involves, among other responsibilities, leading the Misrepresentation team under community products in Global Operations to drive the operational protocol to scale the organization’s enforcement of the community standards; working directly with cross functional teams in Engineering and Product Development as well as other teams within Global Operations, to scale projects from inception to launch.

Prior to her appointment Kendi Ntwiga was the Managing Director of Microsoft Kenya, assuming the position since January 2020. She was responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships between the company’s subsidiaries and the regional sales and marketing departments. In addition, she was tasked with establishing strategies, developing plans, allocating resources, and establishing priorities and supervisory missions – all with the aim of increasing the market share of Microsoft.

Positions at Oracle, HP

Kendi Ntwiga holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business Management from Africa Nazarene university (Kenya), a mini MBA in Strategy from Oracle university and an Executive Education – Launch & Grow Entrepreneurial Leadership from Babson college (USA).

Prior to joining Microsoft, she was General Manager of the East, West and Central Africa cluster for Check Point Software Technologies, a global provider of information security services. Check Point is a pioneer in firewalls with FireWall-1 and its patented stateful inspection technology.

Kendi Ntwiga has also held positions at Oracle, HP and Intel, where she was responsible for leading and implementing business strategies across sub-Saharan Africa. During her tenure at Oracle, where she led the application sales team in Kenya, she won the Oracle Excellence Award, given to the company’s top 2% of employees worldwide.

Strategic digital roadmaps

Kendi Ntwiga has been instrumental in helping various organisations develop strategic digital roadmaps, ultimately enabling them to improve efficiency and reduce costs. She has also been recognised as an emerging leader in innovation and entrepreneurship by the US government under the TechWomen program.

She was selected as a 2015 TechWomen Emerging Leader in Africa through a highly competitive process of applicants from Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Kendi Ntwiga is also the founder of She-Goes-Tech, an initiative created to mentor girls and women pursuing a career in STEM.

She has also led discussions on the inclusion of women in various forums, including the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
