Originally from the Timbuktu region of Mali, she will take up her position on September 1, 2021 and will replace Patrick Benon from Benin, who has been appointed CEO of Orange Cameroon.
Néné Maïga has been a member of the Orange Botswana Board of Directors since December 2020. She began her career in France as a consultant before returning, she explains, to the continent of the future: Africa. Prior to her appointment, Néné Maïga was, since 2018, chief of staff to the CEO of Orange Middle East and Africa. This position, she says, gave her the opportunity to work on projects for the group’s entire African footprint, and to contribute to a more efficient and inclusive company.
Previously, Néné Maïga was the general manager of Orange Finances Mobiles Mali, the e-wallet used by half of Malian adults for financial inclusion. She led exceptional growth in the business, recruiting massive numbers of customers and launching innovative new offerings: instant loans, international money transfers, contactless payments, etc.
Néné Maïga holds a Master’s degree in Management from the Grande Ecole program at HEC Paris.
