Three female finance experts appointed to Ecobank Nigeria Board

Bola Adesola has been appointed chairman of the board of Ecobank Nigeria, the first woman to hold the position, while Titilayo Olujobi and Bimbola Wright have been appointed non-executive directors.

Ecobank Nigeria said in a statement that the new board members have distinguished themselves in their various careers, bringing with them a wealth of experience in the financial services industry, professionalism and integrity, which have earned them international respect.

Bola Adesola, who was also appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors, following the end of John Aboh’s tenure, explains the bank, is a highly respected professional with over thirty-three (33) years of experience in the banking sector. She has commendable leadership qualities and has successfully led expansion initiatives in several banks. Bola Adesola retired from Standard Chartered Bank as Senior Vice President for Africa. Prior to this position, she was Managing Director/CEO of Standard Chartered Nigeria and West Africa for eight years and oversaw the bank’s West African subsidiaries, including Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Cameroon. Bola Adesola also served as chairman of Standard Chartered Bank Mauritius and director of Standard Chartered, Ghana.”

Titilayo Olujobi, nearly 40 years of experience in the financial sector

For her part, Titilayo Olujobi is a versatile and experienced professional with nearly forty years of experience in the fields of public accounting, banking, training facilitation, business consulting and coaching. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a certified professional coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), specializing in executive and business coaching. She is also an accredited Clarity4D business partner and an experienced facilitator.
Titilayo Olujobi is currently a non-executive board member of IBFCAlliance Limited. She started her professional career with Z. O. Ososanya & Co and Coopers and Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouse Coopers) where she led audit engagements and consulted on tax matters.
Titilayo Olujobi obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Economics from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1985 and specialized as a Chartered Accountant in 1989.


In 1990, she joined Nigeria International Bank Limited (now Citibank Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of Citigroup) as a Management Associate. During her seventeen (17) years with Citibank, she held various positions including Head of Treasury Operations Department, Head of Money Market and Head of Foreign Exchange in Treasury, Financial Controller, Senior Relationship Banker in the Energy (Oil & Gas) Group and Senior Credit Analyst. She rose to the level of Vice President (Assistant General Manager) before leaving the bank in 2007.
At Citibank, she served in a variety of leadership roles, including chair of the bank’s communications team and the Voice of the Employee Committee. She also chaired the FX committee of the Money Market Association of Nigeria (now Financial Markets Dealers Association of Nigeria).
Titilayo Olujobi joined IBFCAgusto Training Limited in 2008 as Managing Director, where she was responsible for the strategic direction of the organization. In 2014, with the consolidation of IBFCAgusto’s training business with Alliance Consulting to form IBFCAlliance Limited, she became the Executive Director, with various responsibilities including training facilitation, risk management and business consulting. In January 2018, she transitioned to a non-executive director position on the company’s board of directors, contributing to strategy and policy formulation as well as the overall governance of the company.

33 years of experience at leading financial institutions

For her part, Bimbola Wright is a transformative and people-centered professional with thirty-three (33) years of banking experience in leading financial institutions, including over 20 years in senior management positions. She is currently an Executive Board Member of Wright & Co Limited, a Lagos-based management consulting firm, Chairman of the Board of Arami Essentials, a member of the Institute of Directors, where she serves on the Board of the IoD Centre for Corporate Governance, and a member of the Institute of Management of Nigeria.
Her role at Wright & Co is to help companies and individuals unlock their potential through various capacity building, coaching, culture transformation and customer experience solutions to create value, permanent value and other desired outcomes.


Bimbola Wright began her career at NAL Bank Plc (now part of Sterling Bank), from where she moved to Kakawa Discount House, which was later acquired by First Bank Holdings to become FBNQuest Merchant Bank. Bimbola Wright holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from the University of Surrey, England and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Kent in Canterbury, England.
She provides management advice to a wide range of NGOs and private sector entities, with a strong appreciation of corporate governance principles. For example, she was a member of the Board of Directors of Kakawa Asset Management and Chair of its Investment Committee, a member of the Executive Board of Women in Management, Business and Public Services (WIMBIZ), a member of the Advisory Committee of the Nigeria Interbank Settlement System, a member of the Code of Conduct Committee of the Money Market Association Nigeria. Bimbola Wright is currently the Chairperson of the WIMBOARD Working Committee (an initiative of WIMBIZ) and a Governor of Pinefield Schools.
