Angola: Vera Cristina dos Anjos Tangue Escórcio appointed Chairwoman of the IGAPE

The new Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the National Institute for the Management of State Assets and Holdings replaces Patrício Bicudo Vilar, who has headed IGAPE since 2019, according to a document from the Angolan Ministry of Finance, signed by the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves de Sousa.

The Institute for the Management of State Assets and Participations – IGAPE, as a specialized body of the Angolan State, has the mission of regulating and controlling the public business sector, implementing the privatization and restructuring policy and program, managing and controlling the financial participations of the State, monitoring and supervising the management of financial assets and public funds, as well as the management of loans granted by the State.

In her new position, Vera Tangue Escórcio is primarily responsible for managing the privatisation programme, PROPRIV, which was approved in 2019, incorporating 195 of Angola’s assets and companies, and which will last until 2026. In the near future, Angolan media report, IGAPE is expected to begin the sale and privatisation of other listed companies, including Unitel, Banco de Fomento Angola (BFA), insurance company ENSA and TV Cabo.

Vera Cristina dos Anjos Tangue Escórcio holds a degree in Economics, specialising in Business Economics, from the Faculty of Economics at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, a Portuguese public university. She also holds a postgraduate diploma in banking management from the Instituto Universitario de Pós Graduação (Madrid) and has completed a programme in advanced banking management at the Catholic Lisbon School of Business & Economics.

She has 19 years’ experience in the banking sector and was also CFO of Banco BIC.

From 2009 to date, Vera Cristina dos Anjos Tangue Escórcio has been a member of BFA’s Board of Directors, in the Purchasing, Accounting and Planning, Finance and International and Social Responsibility departments. She was also responsible for BFA’s asset management. She was also a member of the Supervisory Board of Nova Cimangola and of the Supervisory Board of the Angolan Banking Association.
