Armand Zorn, 33 years old, elected member of the Federal Parliament in Germany

News Profile

Originally from Cameroon, he was elected in Frankfurt (with 29%) on behalf of the SPD (Social Democratic Party), during the legislative elections held on Sunday, September 26.

To everyone’s surprise, Armand Zorn beat the one who was considered the favorite, the CDU deputy Axel Kaufmann, as well as Deborah Düring (Greens). The CDU had won this western district of Frankfurt three times in a row. The last time the SPD had won this district was in 2005, when Gregor Amann won.

Born in Cameroon on July 18, 1988, Armand Zorn also studied there until seventh grade, before moving to Germany with his family at the age of 12. They settled in Halle-on-Saale, a city in Germany, located in the state of Saxony-Anhalt on the banks of the Saale River. In this city, Armand Zorn was already politically active as a schoolboy, for example in the fight against the right wing. “I grew up in modest circumstances. However, I was always taught that with diligence and hard work you can achieve your dreams. With the support of my parents and society, I was able to develop and realize my potential. Without the scholarships, the people who encouraged and inspired me, and the many part-time jobs, this would not have been possible,” explains Arman Zorn.

The new German federal deputy holds degrees in political and administrative sciences, European affairs, international economics and business law from Halle (Saale), Paris, Chongqing (China), Konstanz and Bologna. From 2012 to 2015, he worked at the Federal Ministry of Finance, the French National Assembly, and the European Union representation in Hong Kong.

Head of Digital Transformation

Armand Zorn also worked at PwC Germany as Head of Digital Transformation. Within PwC’s digital services team, he supported clients in large-scale technology and digital transformation programs. In addition, as Chief of Staff to the Head of Digital Services at PwC EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), he shaped PwC’s transition to a truly digital organization. His primary responsibility was to actively drive the implementation and continuous improvement of PwC’s digitalization and innovation strategy
As a project manager responsible for digital transformation and economic sustainability in development cooperation over many years, Armand Zorn has accompanied companies in their digital transformation and in risk management as well as in compliance with legal regulations.

Priorities of the new MP

As an MP, Armand Zorn’s themes are justice, security, and sustainability. In addition, the now ex-management consultant, who moved to Frankfurt in 2015 because of his job, wants to work in the Bundestag to ensure that Germany becomes more innovative. For him, an education policy is crucial. “We are not preparing our children for the world of tomorrow and the day after tomorrow,” he said recently in an interview with Frankfurter Rundschau. Arman Zorn also wants to campaign for equal opportunities for advancement for young people in Berlin – not for reasons of justice. “We simply cannot afford to give up so much untapped potential.
