Noellie Cécile Tiendrebreogo, new Managing Director of EcoBank Burkina Faso

Since August 2021, Noellie Noellie Tiendrebeogo is the new General Manager of Ecobank Burkina Faso, an institution she had left in July 2019, after spending 14 years there. She had been appointed CEO of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Burkina Faso, becoming the first female CEO of a bank in Burkina Faso and the only female CEO of a bank in the country to date.

Noellie Cécile Tiendrebreogo replaces Moukaramou Chanou Aloa, who will now take up the position of Managing Director of the Ecobank Group’s subsidiary in Paris.

Noellie Cécile Tiendrebreogo served as general manager of UBA Burkina Faso from 2018 and July 2021. She is described as a seasoned banker and a great fighter. According to her, “being a woman is not a handicap. On the contrary, studies have shown that women in leadership positions do very well because they can be very accommodating and have the ability to lead and mobilize people around them.”

Noellie Cécile Tiendrebreogo has nearly 25 years of experience in the banking sector in Burkina Faso. Prior to her appointment as Managing Director of UBA Burkina Faso, Noellie Cécile Tiendrebreogo was Executive Director-Corporate Bank Manager of Ecobank Burkina Faso (December 2016-June 2019) and Corporate Bank Manager from 2010 to December 2016. Prior to that, she was, from March 2009 to December 2010, Head of Multinationals and Regional Businesses as well as Head of the SME-SMI and Retail segment, a position she held for 3 years, from January 2006 to February 2009. Noellie Tiendrebeogo joined Ecobank Burkina in October 2005 as Banking Relationship Manager.

Before joining Ecobank Burkina Faso, Noellie Cécile Tiendrebreogo started her career at Société Générale Burkina Faso in 1998, as head of the organization, methods and procedures unit, from June 1998 to January 2000. She was also in charge of commercial accounts from January 2000 to December 2005.

Noellie Cécile Tiendrebreogo holds a post-graduate degree in finance, accounting and management control from the University of Ouagadougou and an international certificate in corporate finance from HEC Paris.

Noellie Cécile Tiendrebreogo is married and has two children (twins).
