A lawyer at the High Court of Sierra Leone, she has ben appointed to this position on July 16 by the country’s president, Julius Maada Bio, becoming the first person to head this newly-created ministry and also the youngest member of the government.

As Minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation, Salima Monorma Bah’s responsibilities will include transforming the country’s digital landscape and implementing initiatives that promote the use of technology to develop the country.
Prior to her appointment, Salima Bah was a State Advisor assigned to the Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) of the Sierra Leone Ministry of Justice. She was a member of the policy team responsible for providing legal advice and opinions.
Prior to joining the DSTI, Salima Bah was attached to the Prosecution Division of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Justice, where she gained professional experience in criminal prosecutions and the formulation of legal opinions on cases and police investigations submitted for review.
A lawyer by training, Salima Bah holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Wales (Holborn College) and practises as a barrister at the High Court of Sierra Leone. An active member of the Sierra Leone Bar Association, she is also an executive member of LAWYERS, a non-profit organization of women lawyers set up to defend the rights of women and children.
