Titi Cole and Chinwe Esimai to lead Citi’s Legacy Franchises

Titi Cole was named CEO of Legacy Franchises in February 2022 and Chinwe Esimai has been appointed as Managing Director – Chief Compliance Officer, Legacy Franchises, since April 2022. 

Citi’s Legacy Franchises is the new operating segment that houses Citi’s consumer businesses and colleagues in the markets Citi is exiting across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Mexico.

Titi Cole is a veteran in the banking industry with nearly 30 years of experience. As CEO of Citi’Legacy Franchises, she is responsible for overseeing the new operating segment that houses Citi’s consumer businesses and colleagues in the markets Citi is exiting across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Mexico. Prior to her current role, Titi Cole served as Citi’s Head of Global Operations and Fraud Prevention and the Chief Client Officer for Personal Banking and Wealth Management (PBWM). She also served as the Global Diversity & Inclusion Champion for PBWM, where she led initiatives to increase representation of women and underrepresented groups across the business.

Before joining Citi in 2020, Titi Cole was the Head of Consumer and Small Business Banking Operations and Contact Centers at Wells Fargo, a diversified, community-based financial services company with $1.92 trillion in assets. Previously, she led Shared Services for Consumer Credit Solutions. She also served as a member of Wells Fargo’s Management Committee.

Previously, Titi Cole led Retail Products and Underwriting for Bank of America with responsibility for the consumer credit card, debit and checking businesses, credit card underwriting and fulfillment, and the enterprise payments network group. She has also held leadership roles at BMO Harris Bank in Chicago and McKinsey & Company.

Titi Cole earned a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria and a Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Titi Cole serves on the Board of Trustees for Queens University of Charlotte.

Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer

Chinwe Esimai is the new Managing Director – Chief Compliance Officer, Legacy Franchises. She is overseeing the regulatory compliance aspects of Citi’s divestiture strategy around the globe.

Prior to that, Chinwe Esimai was the Managing Director and Chief Anti-Bribery Officer at Citigroup, Inc, the first person to hold this title in the bank’s history. She oversaw Citi’s Global Anti-Bribery & Corruption (AB&C) Program, and was responsible for global AB&C governance, policy maintenance and communication, risk assessment, advisory-related activities, training, and risk-based due diligence on third parties. She was Interim Head of the AB&C Program from April – July 2013.

Chinwe Esimai was previously VP & Anti-Bribery Compliance Officer at Goldman, Sachs & Co. (GSCO), and also VP in the Reg Audits & Inquiries Group at GSCO. Prior to her return to GSCO, Chinwe served as Assistant Professor of Law at the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, MN, where she taught Law & Finance in Emerging Markets, Securities Regulation, and Business Associations.

Chinwe Esimai obtained her B.A. in Political Science, summa cum laude, from the City College of New York, and her J.D. from Harvard Law School. Following graduation, she practiced as a corporate associate at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, LLP, where she worked on mergers and acquisitions and a variety of capital markets transactions. Subsequently, she advised the financial services arms of MetLife, Inc. on compliance with Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) rules.

Chinwe Esimai served in the Global Compliance Division at GSCO from 2006-2009, as an Axiom secondee in the CEO Certification group and as Vice President of Reg. Audits & Inquiries.
