Jean-Jacques Muyembe-Tamfum and Peter Piot has been honoured for their tireless commitment to health. The ceremony took place on Sunday 21 May, during the high-level opening session of the 76th World Health Assembly.
The Global Health Leaders Award was established in 2019 by WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. He presented the two winners with their awards, which WHO says "have demonstrated tireless commitment", to "salute their outstanding contributions to the promotion of global health".
